Chronic ill heath at an early age forced me to stop and remain still, this was at a time of life when I would have naturally expanded and explored. This contradiction between what my body needed and what my heart/soul desired lead to a deep reflection on the deeper meanings of life and a long term quest for recovery. It was embarking on this journey into the unknown that not only brought about an insatiable appetite to learn, grow and seek answers but also the deep desire to communicate my findings to others through art. The subject matter of my work is vast and wide ranging yet behind all of it lies this passion to convey to others that which I have seen, experienced or sensed that is notable, be it; about the awe inspiring, triumph over adversity, or capturing in a moment the essence of the soul. As much as my research into alternative medicines and healing has been vast and wide ranging so have my experiments with artistic media and space. I never tire of exploring new materials and I am always pushing myself to find the medium that best communicates each concept to others. Explorations with materials such as glass and textiles have been a real pleasure for me due to the voices these have inherent within themselves. Having the opportunity to make works on a large scale is and always will be incredibly exciting for me. Often we may engage with art with the eyes but scaling up (or down) can at times really help to enhance the bodies visceral response to works. I seek to make works that elicit visceral responses and allow the audience to truly engage and get lost in them.
